Leather Color and Pantone Matching System

The color is very important to the designers. So how to make the color of the product be the same as the color of designer’s demanding? J.D. Leather will explain this problem for us.

The PANTONE color card

One color will show not completely consistent effect in different screens. So we cannot use the color displayed in screen as a reference when we are printing or changing the color. We need a common standard to let us determine the consistency of the color. And at present the method we use most widely is the Pantone Matching System (PMS).

PMS use a series of colors to represent the color, the designers will tell us the number, such as pantone 256c. Pantone 256 u, representing the different colors. Today, American PANTONE has been used widely by the most of countries in the world. It is not only convenient for the users, but also stabilize the quality.

256C and 256U

The color number we know always composed by numbers and letters. Such as 105C pantone, represents printing pantone 105c on smooth coated paper. (C=Coated smooth pater). We usually judge the color by the letters behind the number. C=Smooth coated paper U=Dumb face paper TPX=Textile print paper TC=Cotton print paper

The designers just need to tell us Pantone Color Number, then we can product the corresponding leather or print the right color for the leather.
